Consistency is key.   Building off of yesterday’s blog (read here) around the topic of life requiring work, our consistent actions shape our results.  Whether these results are what we say we want doesn’t matter.  Let’s be honest, what we “want” is everything, to have our cake and eat it to (or in my past case…. to have a six pack and scarf Ben & Jerry’s!).

You’ll see far better results using a few tools daily than having the most elaborate and complete tool chest that sits on the top shelf of your closet.  Today’s blog is a check-in, did you take a few minutes to write out your HOV (Hierarchy of Values)?  When you didn’t want to take an action you knew was necessary for overall happiness did you take one minute to predict how difficult and pleasurable it would be to finish?

My chief complaint regarding most motivational material is the lack of follow through.  Novelty is stimulating and exciting, consistency, where real change lies, gets boring.  It becomes more “work,” and if we haven’t updated our beliefs to embrace work we will never follow through.  In any endeavor.

Training 15 minutes a day for 3-4 days a week will always produce a change.  Having the “best” plan that requires 60-90 minutes (not to mention commute) that you finish 1 time a week will not.  Consistency is key, and what Vigor Revolution’s programs are all about!

Today’s tool is simple, refer to your HOV if thoughts and emotions begin drifting to the zone that triggers your BOC (behavior of choice).  Maintain the mindset of overall, long term success and happiness.  Using an attitude of curiosity look at the problem at hand as a puzzle or riddle, how else could this be solved?

Again, consistency is key.  Building the habit of referring back to our highest needs and wants regularly governs behavior, creates stability, and leads to feeling empowered and confident.

Maintaining Motivation

 

Sleep struggles continued, today is the day of the week in which I can get the most done to help my students and attract new ones.  Marketing is by far my least favorite aspect of coaching, yet imperative so the potential students I can help can find us.  I started small today, typing in a familiar forum to get my fingers flowing.  Combined with a few incantations, breathing and visualization, I generated the energy to dive in and begin writing, as well as reach out to several men and women who are curious about how we train.  Consistency is key, regardless of the endeavor.  These daily actions will naturally create my biggest desired outcome, just as they have worked for others.

Work Works

Today I did a brief check-in with my progress and daily work effort.  Still a long ways to go, however looking back over the last year I see huge changes that have taken place.  Consistency is key, the daily use of meditation, incantations, prioritizing the most difficult task first, etc. all are creating progress.  My attitude about work is almost completely the opposite as when I began, shifting from “I have to do….” to “I get to do…..” while trying to help others.  Pretty cool.
